AIR SPECTRUM IN THE DRIVING SEAT
A world-class automotive manufacturer has had their unwanted odour issues shown the red flag, thanks to Air Spectrum Environmental’s award-winning technology.
Tallent Automotive design and develop cutting-edge chassis, suspension and body structures for the global automotive industry.
However, the unpleasant smell produced as a bi-product of oven-drying the sub-assemblies were attracting complaints from neighbours of their side.
Thankfully, Midlands-based odour control experts Air Spectrum were able to step in and solve the problem and put Tallent Automotive, which is part of the global Gestamp group, back in the fast lane.
Air Spectrum General Manager Mark Thomas said: “We were approached by Gestamp to come up with a solution to the odour problems emanating from the ovens on their site in Cannock.
“It was established that one of our Jetstream stack systems would give them the best coverage and we were able to fit it with a wind switch. This meant the system would only operate when the wind was blowing from a certain direction as this triggered the sensors.
“In turn, it made the system more cost-effective for them as it was not necessary for it to be operational all of the time. The system has been in place since October and they have already seen a noticeable reduction in their odour issues.
“We are also working with them to supply all the necessary information to ensure they continue to be compliant with the relevant legislation.”
Josh Westwood, Business Systems Technician for Gestamp Tallent Limited, added: “Since the introduction of the Jetstream odour neutraliser unit, Air Spectrum have worked closely alongside us, ensuring we obtain the best set-up for our individual requirements and have responded swiftly to any queries or issues that have arisen.
“The introduction of an odour management system was an obligatory condition of our Environmental Part A(2) permit but, since its inception, the
number of local resident complaints regarding our paint plant process have also diminished.”
Gestamp are a supplier to some of the biggest names in the industry, including Bentley, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche and Volkswagen and Thomas was delighted Air Spectrum could come to the rescue.
He continued: “Gestamp are a prestige customer and we are delighted to have been able to work with them and deliver such a satisfying outcome using the best-available technology.
“As a consequence, other companies within their group have expressed an interest in what Air Spectrum could offer to them.”
